The Bulembu Bakery opened its doors on October 19, 2009. Before that, the town depended on bread deliveries from Pigg’s Peak—an 18 km journey along a rough dirt road. Frequent bad weather often made the road unsafe, causing delays and driving up the cost of bread.
Today, our bakery produces around 2,400 loaves of bread each week! Our dedicated team works hard to provide fresh, high-quality bread for the Orphan Care Programme, along with a delicious variety of baked goods like doughnuts, sticky buns, and dinner rolls enjoyed by the entire Bulembu community.
